―Barry Berwick and Sherlock Holmes.[src]

Barry "Bezza" Berwick was an English murderer who was jailed in Minsk, Belarus, for the murder of his wife Karen. Despite consulting Sherlock Holmes, he was presumably hanged for the murder.

Early lifeEdit

Barry grew up learning butchering skills from his father, who was a butcher by trade.

Later lifeEdit

Barry married Karen, though he wasn't entirely faithful and was sometimes prone to chat to other women.

One night in Belarus, Barry and Karen went out to a nice bar. Karen got annoyed after he started chatting to one of the waitresses. They later returned to their hotel room and had a fight. Karen accused him of not being a real man. Barry then found a knife in his hands which he used to repeated stab his wife until she died.

Barry was arrested and held in a Minsk jail. He contacted the consulting detective Sherlock Holmes in an attempt to clear his name. Sherlock travelled to Minsk to see him and interviewed him about the murder. Sherlock corrected Barry's grammar several times through the questioning, making Barry very angry. Sherlock decided not to take the case, and presumably Barry was hanged for the crime.

Barry Berwick appeared at the start of the Sherlock episode The Great Game. He also appears on both Sherlock's and John's blogs.

Behind the scenesEdit

Barry Berwick was played by Matthew Needham.
