Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle (May 22 1859 – July 7 1930) was a Scottish writer who wrote the original Sherlock Holmes stories. The BBC series Sherlock, co-created by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, is based upon these stories.
Co-creator Mark Gatiss said that Conan Doyle "was a fucking genius writer. The Holmes stories are so quick. They are all dialogue and you can read them in 20 minutes. Whenever I meet someone who hasn't read them, I always think they have got so much fun to come."
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born into a family of 10 children and he was the 2nd.
